Poddar Design Institute was there to soak in the excitement at Laconic Fashion Fest 2019 at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur. Organized by Fashion Design Council of Rajasthan, the event was attended by renowned designers, educators, artisans, photographers, fashion enthusiasts as well as fashion influencers.
Students of Poddar Design Institute – a part of Poddar International College, enjoyed vibes of the Fest and showcased their creativity among celebrities and renowned designers. The installation by Poddar Design was inspired by ‘Brilliant Coral – Color of the Year 2019, featuring a collection of extravagant conceptual outfits made from Jute and a plant which resembles living corals.
The scintillating couture event showcased a collection of several ace designers. Celebrities and Designers of international repute met with aspiring designers of Poddar Design Institute and appreciated their creativity and design acumen. During the two-day pageant, PDIans learned firsthand unconventional and contemporary aspects of design philosophy and trends. They also got the chance to interact with regional handicraft artisans present at the fest.
Live Sessions with eminent artists, designers and celebrities were the highlights of Laconic 2019. These included sessions by famous Hindi film director Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar on ‘Life Journey’, Mr. Dabboo Ratnani, ace celebrity and fashion photographer in conversation with Mr. Aman Yatan Vermaa, talk by Ms. Krishna Mehta on ‘Fashion Revolution’, Mr. James Ferreira on ‘Fashion Through The Ages’, Mr. Kunnal Vermaa on ‘Music & Fashion’, Mr. Aslam Khan in conversation with Meenakshi Dixit on ‘Standing Ovation’, Mr. Salim Asgarally on ‘Fashion Business or Art Form’, Ms. Sunita Burad & Mr. Ranamal Khatri on ‘Ajrak’ and many more.
Laconic showcased creations by leading designers including Rocky S, Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor, James Ferriera, Babita Malkhani, Palace Atelier by Princess Diya Kumari and Nitu Bhutra. It was attended by several distinguished personalities such as Sonal Chauhan, Dabboo Ratnani, Aman Verma, Madhur Bhandarkar, Wendell Rodricks, Krishna Mehta, Shabina Khan, Meenakshi Dixit, among others. Adding to the lively spirit of the event were musical performances by Priya Andrews & Dino Banjara Band. The event concluded with a couture show at Taj, Jai Mahal Palace.
The objective of the event was to provide wider marketing opportunities for local artisans, weavers, and brands to help them grow their business. The Fest also proved to be a vibrant learning platform for design students. Students of Poddar Design Institute expressed their gratitude and privilege at being part of the event and hoped for continued opportunities of taking part in such design events.
